India and Japan coming together for a space mission

Joint lunar mission with India - lunar polar exploration that hopes to put a Lander on moon's surface.

As per details shared by Japanese space agency JAXA , the mission will launch after 2023. ISRO currently has its human space flight programme (Gaganyaan) scheduled for 2022 - and will involve a Lander and a rover.

The mission will be launched from JAPAN. The designated launch vehicle is H3 rocket which is manufactured by Mitsubishi heavy industries.

The H3 rocket hasn't been tested yet, the first H3 was planned to launch in the fiscal year 2020 and most probably due to COVID-19 Pandemic this launch may get rescheduled to fiscal year 2021.

India should persuade Japan and give alternative of GSLV-MARK III which was recently a successful rocket in CHANDRAYAAN II mission. GSLV MARK III is a tried and tested rocket.

JAXA added , "Rover will be equipped to conduct observations of the chemical elements present in areas where water may possibly be distributed. If hydrogen is detected the rover will mine the surface to collect samples. Samples will then be heated to vapourize the volatile substances in order to determine chemical composition , analyse the quantity of water and conduct isotopic analysis ".
